Maneki Neko gold edition xoxoxo @ Magic City Exhibition / Munich / 2017

In April 2017 I created a piece for the Magic City Exhibition, which is going to travel during the next years around the world.

The Maneki Neko – which is the japanese name for the lucky cat that is waving its arm in silence – is expected to wish good luck to business people and customers in ancient japanese and chinese mythology. For the Magic City, I embedded it in my letterset, shining in bright golden chrome, waving a farewell to the passing spectators.

The technical specialty of the piece lies in its multi-layered construction that literally elevates parts of the composition from the wall, breaking the boundary between painting and sculpture and gives the spectator a truly three dimensional viewing experience.
